The seven star pole is a unique weapon in the bagua system. It is a thin, hollow pole about 1.2 m long. Traditionally it is made of a special flexible bamboo with an amount of mercury inside. When the pole is whipped, the mercury shoots to that end, making it a devastating striking weapon. It is strong and flexible enough to whip over and strike the opponent on the back when chopping down over his shoulder from the front.
