3.7 Single Hook Dot And Reach

單勾點探式 dan gou dian tan shi

Dot and Reach trains the same concepts as the dragon Returning Body Change, though once again, quicker and lighter, like a bird, and integrally connected like a snake.

Description: Starting in single hook form with the left hand into the circle.

Action One: Koubu the right foot.

Action Two: Baibu the left foot to a T step and coil the left arm.

Action Three: Step the right foot through to lion, a bit away from the circle. Both hands are open.

Action Four: Baibu the left foot to open mabu facing in. Zazhang (pound) with the left arm, leaving the right arm extended at the right side, both applying pressure downwards. Up to here it is the same as the sixth single hook change.

Action Five: Withdraw the left foot (best to lift the left knee if you have the strength and balance) and tanzhang with the right hand on the circle line. Pull back with the left hand to tuck under the elbow.

Action Six: Step the left foot a bit to the outside. Bring the left hand over the right forearm, palm up. Reach forward and open out the left arm by turning the waist. Do this as a distinct action, out to the outside of the circle. Extend the left arm, turning the palm down and then hooking, changing to a single hook form. Turn again and extend the right arm forward. Gradually turn the right hand to the circle centre to walk in single hook form.
